The band was founded in
1998 on an idea of Giuseppe Bondi (keyboards) and Claudio
Diprima(drums). They played together in a power-metal
cover band but one day they decided to create their
own music .So they started searching for musicians
that had faith in their project and they found them
in : Maurizio Malta , Giovanni Santini , Michele Cristofalo
and Dario Grillo.
After the release of a 3-track demo
entitled "Sword ,Crown and Shields" they
started to compose new material that was recorded in
March 1999; this demo was called "Perpetual
Glory"and it was entirely self-produced.

.G. received very good responses in all the Italian
metal magazines (Top demo on Metal Hammer ,May 1999)
and fanzines. So in August 1999 the band signed a deal
with Scarlet Records. Meanwhile Michele
Cristofalo left the band to join "Carabinieri" Army, and
Dario D'Alessandro took his place.
In March 2000 they started the recordings
of "The
Lasting Power", the debut album ,
and they finished in April 2000. TLP received a
great response worldwide in spite of a weak production
. In July 2001 Thy Majestie finished the recordings
of "1066" ,
promo-demo Cd self-produced that wasn't released but
it was used to "test" the new compositions . But two
songs were pubblished on internet and received thousands
of dowloadings and great pubblic response .
In September 2001 LIMB Music (producer
of Rhapsody) noticed Thy Majestie
and after they have listened "1066" Limb proposed the
possibilty of a deal but Thy Majestie had signed for
two albums with Scarlet and so it wasn't possible.
In January 2002 Thy Majestie were contacted by Thomas
Youngblood , he proposed them an european tour to support
his Kamelot .Great chance! Unfortunately Thy Majestie
couldn't afford the tour expences only by themselves
and they had to record the new album only 2 month after
.

In March 2002 they entered in recording studio to record "Hastings
1066" . New album is based on a concept story about
the fundamental battle of Hastings in 1066 a.C. . The
style is changed to a power-prog style but without
leaving symphonic style . They finished the recording
sessions in May 3rd. New album will be out for Scarlet
Records from September 30th 2002.
About
the Style
I've
read a lot of reviews but sincerely I didn't understand
what kind of music Thy Majestie play.
Thy Majestie play heavy metal! But with a lot of "non" metal
influences like symphonic , opera and medieval music. Some
of their songs sound in a soundtrack style, some
songs sound like classic power metal songs : straight
in your face with melodic and catchy choruses; some
other sound very progressive oriented with very articulated
structures. So you can find a lot of different sounds
in Thy Majestie's music
I've
read that Thy Majestie sound like Rhapsody, is it
true?
No ,definitely. There are a lot of differences between
Rhapsody and Thy Majestie: different approach to
metal, different atmospheres, different melodies,
different structures, different use of the choirs,
well...different! Thy Majestie's music is an alternative
and different way to play symphonic metal.
Which
are Thy Majestie 's influences ? From which bands
are you inspired ?
Thy Majestie influences are a lot , we are inspired
from music in its multiple faces . We don't follow
a particular band but we are respectful to Iron Maiden
